In honor of our Amazing Pet Contest, we thought we would share the story of probably one of the most amazing dogs around. She’s been the subject of a book and countless forwarded emails, she’s been featured on Ripley’s Believe It Or Not and she’s even made friends with Oprah. Chances are you’ve already heard of her, but just in case you haven’t we thought we’d tell her story one more time here. We’re talking about Faith.
Faith was born in 2002 with only 3 legs- 2 healthy hind legs and 1 deformed front leg, which had to amputated when Faith was only a 7-month old puppy. Jude Stringfellow whom her family describes as having “a heart like a marshmallow” adopted Faith when her son brought the puppy home after seeing that her own mom was trying to smother her. Faith’s mother must have thought that Faith didn’t stand a chance in life at all. Little did she know!
Many people tried to convince Faith’s owner, Jude Stringfellow that it was best to get the dog euthanized, but Jude would have none of it. Jude was convinced that Faith could still lead a normal dog’s life and that all it took was, well, a little faith. Using a spoon with peanut butter to encourage her, Jude eventually managed to teach Faith how to walk. Now, not only is she walking, she is also running, skipping , jumping, playing and along the way becoming a worldwide celebrity and constant inspiration for everyone who’s heard her story. Faith is real proof that “impossible” is really just a state of mind!
